Dancers generally dance 3-4 dances with one partner. This is called a tanda (or a set of dances). After each tanda (set) there is a cortina (curtain) that serves as a musical cue for partners to switch.
Most tandas (sets) of music played during the milonga are traditional tangos of the golden age (1935~1955) of tango in Argentina; although a few tandas of alternative (modern) tango music are sometimes played as well.[/tab] [/tabcontent] [/tabs]
